Step into a pivotal role supporting young learners with diverse needs as a Special Education Teacher for 5th and 6th grades. This full-time contract opportunity runs from ASAP through June 2027, with a consistent Monday through Friday schedule and 35-37.5 hours per week.
You will play a crucial part in the “Life Skills/Intensive Needs” program, serving as both teacher and case manager for a small cohort of just three students. This environment allows for individualized attention and the chance to make a meaningful impact on each child's educational journey.
Qualifications & Experience Sought:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Experience working with students with intensive needs or within life skills programs preferred
- Familiarity with IEP development and case management
- Strong skills in adapting curriculum and collaborative problem-solving
- Exceptional communication abilities to foster teamwork and engage with families and staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and academic support for 5th and 6th grade students with intensive needs
- Serve as case manager, ensuring all IEP goals are met and progress is well documented
- Develop creative, adaptive teaching strategies for students’ success in life skills and academic growth
- Collaborate closely with other educators, therapists, and paraprofessionals
- Maintain open, positive communication with families regarding student development
- Continually assess program effectiveness and adjust approaches when needed
