Job Title: Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a Technician to support an Engineer in the development of a manufacturing test process for a mechatronics-based packaging machine that inducts and labels packages.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Engineer to design, build, and integrate test solutions for electromechanical systems.
  • Focus on control panels, conveyance systems, printers, dimensioners, weigh scales, delta robot labelers, and vision systems.
  • Work with PLC and I/O-intensive systems to validate functionality and ensure seamless integration.
  • Set up test environments, configure systems, and execute product testing.
  • Translate engineering direction into actionable tasks and deliverables with minimal supervision.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting, assembly, and integration of test equipment.
  • Travel to local suppliers to conduct acceptance testing of custom test panels and other solutions under the guidance of the lead engineer.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in wiring and acceptance testing.
  • Experience with assembly, hand tools, and installation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug electrical systems.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Experience in creating Bills of Materials (BOMs) from engineering specifications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude for test system installation, assembly, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in electrical wiring, routing, and connections with a solid understanding of safety standards.
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for system startup and configuration.
  • Skilled in executing test plans and procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with quality control practices and testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of proper packaging, handling, and shipping procedures for technical equipment.

Exposure to local suppliers and vendors offers variety in day-to-day work and opportunities to broaden professional networks. The role provides hands-on exposure to cutting-edge mechatronics, robotics, and automation systems, and the opportunity to work directly with an experienced Engineer, gaining mentorship and practical knowledge in manufacturing test process development.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Westborough, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.48 - $33.48/hr.
