Retail Banking Specialist I - The Retail Banking Specialist is a cross-functional position responsible for frontline transaction activities such as cashing checks, taking in deposits, and making withdrawals, as well as customer service, once trained. Willingness to thoroughly understand our policies, procedures, and products and services is paramount and is vital to the success of the Bank. The impression that the Retail Banking Specialist makes with our customers is critical for developing and maintaining positive relationships with our customers and our community.

Reports to: Head Teller, Assistant Manager, Branch Manager

Supervises: None

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of six months’ experience in a service-related field.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Successful completion of in-house training and a 90-day probation period.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • At a minimum works one evening a week and every other Saturday.

Specific Job Functions:

  1. Greet customers with a smile, use their name, and thank them for banking with BankGloucester.
  2. Adhere to the Bank’s security procedures and follows all Bank policies.
  3. Process a variety of customer transactions, including but not limited to, deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, issuing of bank checks, money orders, processing mortgage and loan payments, processing night deposit, and ATM balancing transactions.
  4. Perform basic customer service transactions:
    1. Printing/hot card debit cards.
    2. Travel notifications.
    3. Printing statements and copies of checks.
    4. Address change requests.
    5. Answers general customer questions, as well as problem solving customer issues.
    6. Basic knowledge on consumer products and services.
  5. Determine customer needs by suggesting appropriate products or referring to the appropriate area, such as Lending or Hayden Wealth Management.
  6. Maintain a clean, organized, and secure area, and always aware of customer privacy.
  7. Complete CTR’s in accordance with the Bank Secrecy Act and report any suspicious or unusual activity to the supervisor.
  8. End of day processing.
  9. Complete BVS Compliance training quarterly.
  10. Any other duties assigned.
