Location: South Shore, MA

Compensation: $170,000–$200,000 plus a performance-based bonus

About the Company

A multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced civil engineering leader to manage and grow its Massachusetts civil practice. The firm supports public and private clients with engineering and design services for infrastructure, transportation, and site development projects.

About the Role

This is a division leadership opportunity for a seller-doer who combines engineering and project delivery experience with a demonstrated ability to win work. You will lead the civil group, oversee client relationships and project performance, and guide growth with a particular emphasis on expanding private-sector business.

The ideal candidate brings experience within a private consulting firm, established client relationships, and a track record of turning those relationships into new opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the civil engineering division, setting priorities for team performance, project delivery, and growth.
  • Develop new business and strengthen existing client relationships, particularly in the private sector.
  • Build a pipeline of opportunities through an established professional network and active business development.
  • Lead pursuits, proposals, scope development, and fee negotiations.
  • Oversee project execution, including staffing, budgets, schedules, and technical quality.
  • Manage and mentor engineering staff while identifying hiring and team development needs.
  • Remain actively involved in client service and project delivery.
  • Collaborate with other discipline leaders to pursue and deliver multidisciplinary work.

Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of relevant civil engineering experience, including team leadership and project management.
  • Private-sector consulting experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success as a seller-doer, with the ability to generate business and oversee successful delivery.
  • An established client network and book of business that can support practice growth.
  • Experience managing engineering teams, client relationships, and project financial performance.
  • Strong communication, business development, and leadership skills.

The Opportunity

Shape the direction of a civil engineering practice with responsibility for leading the team, strengthening client relationships, and expanding the firm's private-sector presence.
