Job Description IP Associate / Patent Agent – Boston

Direct Counsel is representing a leading AmLaw 100 firm seeking an IP Associate or Patent Agent to join its growing Intellectual Property Practice in Boston. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in the biological sciences and experience with patent prosecution and portfolio matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications.
• Evaluate patent portfolios and conduct IP due diligence.
• Work directly with clients across a variety of industries.
• Collaborate with attorneys across the firm's national and global platform.
• Provide strategic IP support and exceptional client service.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant patent drafting and prosecution experience.
• Strong background in biological sciences.
• Ph.D. required in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Must be registered to practice before the USPTO / Patent Bar.
• Associate candidates must be admitted or eligible for admission to the Massachusetts Bar.
• Law firm experience preferred.
• Excellent academic credentials and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to work directly with clients.

Full-Time

Compensation

• IP Associate: $235,000–$365,000
• Patent Agent: $150,000–$185,000

Plus discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits.
