\n LPN behavioral health travel contract in Dummerston, VT — Licensed Practical Nurse needed for a pediatric inpatient psychiatric float position. This 13-week travel nurse opportunity (start 5/11/2026) is ideal for LPNs with pediatric psychiatric or acute behavioral health experience who want to make a real impact in southern Vermont.\n

  • Location: Dummerston, Vermont (05301) – southern Vermont nursing jobs; enjoy scenic countryside and outdoor recreation near Brattleboro.\n
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 5/11/2026 – End: 8/10/2026)\n
  • Setting: Children's Inpatient Behavioral Health – Float Position (pediatric inpatient psychiatric unit)\n
  • Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 36 or 48 hours guaranteed per week; LPN night shift experience preferred\n
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,680 – $1,770\n
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend\n
  • On-call: Possible\n

\n\nJob Requirements – Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Qualifications\n

  • Active Vermont LPN license or Compact LPN license accepted (must be valid at start date)\n
  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification\n
  • Minimum 5 years LPN experience; recent inpatient psychiatric experience within the last 3 months required (LTC experience not accepted)\n
  • Recent pediatric behavioral health experience (working with children ages 5–12 in a psychiatric/behavioral health setting within the last 6 months)\n
  • Comfort and ability to float to all units and assume charge nurse responsibilities as scheduled\n
  • Resume must clearly detail psychiatric experience and all age groups worked with\n
  • Psych skills checklist completed within the last year\n
  • Two supervisory references from the last two years of employment\n
  • Driver's license or current address required for submission\n
  • Must be able to start on 5/11/2026 (no exceptions)\n

\n\nResponsibilities – Pediatric Psychiatric Nursing & Clinical Duties\n

  • Provide direct nursing care to children ages 5–12 experiencing acute emotional and behavioral challenges on an inpatient behavioral health unit\n
  • Perform psychiatric nursing assessments and utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care\n
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, therapists, and mental health workers) to identify patient needs and appropriate interventions\n
  • Float to various units as needed and assume charge nurse responsibilities when scheduled\n
  • Supervise Mental Health Workers (MHWs) to ensure safe, therapeutic, and evidence-based care delivery\n
  • Support patients and families with crisis stabilization, safety planning, and behavioral interventions for co-occurring psychiatric and substance-related issues\n
  • Document patient care accurately and ensure compliance with facility policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices in psychiatric nursing\n
