Overview

Labouré College of Healthcare seeks qualified candidates for a part-time adjunct faculty position to teach an online, asynchronous undergraduate course on Legal Considerations in Health Care. The successful candidate will deliver engaging instruction, mentor students, and contribute to the program's commitment to academic excellence. The course examines the intersection of law, ethics, and health care delivery, covering topics such as patient rights, professional liability, regulatory compliance, and health information privacy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and/ or teach 7-week and/or 10-week Arts & Sciences courses.
  • Design and archive all course materials online, in the College’s LMS, and the Division-wide shared cloud space, as maintained by the Chair of Arts & Sciences. The Chair of Arts & Sciences will provide a standard syllabus and some course materials, but the faculty is expected to tailor the materials to fit the course SLOs, the needs of the students enrolled in the course, and the individual faculty’s teaching methods and areas of expertise.
  • Conform to best practices standards and guidelines, as set forth by, but not limited to, the AAC&U and other relevant discipline-specific professional societies.
  • Maintain and keep visible all course materials for approximately three years.
  • Respond to student questions and concerns in an appropriate format within 24 hours.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school or a relevant terminal degree in Healthcare Management, Public Health, or a closely related field.
  • Experience:
    • Three years of relevant work experience in healthcare law, regulatory compliance, or a similar field.
    • Prior experience in teaching or training adult learners at the college/university level is preferred but not always required.
  • Skills: Strong academic and professional qualifications, excellent oral and written communication skills, and proficiency with relevant technology and learning management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with eLearning and Brightspace
