APCM Coordinator / Patient Services Representative
Job Description
Job Description
We are seeking a responsible, self-motivated person for a dual role: coordinator of our Advanced Primary Care Management (APCM) program and patient services representative. The position is Monday through Friday and mostly work from home. When a front desk employee is out, you work from the office instead, so you must live within a reasonable commute and be able to come in on short notice. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong interpersonal and phone skills, strong multitasking ability, and a calm, professional demeanor under pressure.
Responsibilities
APCM program:
- Enroll patients, obtain and track consents, and prepare and submit all APCM billing each month.
- Make outreach calls to patients in the program.
Patient services, from home:
- Answer and handle telephone calls from patients, providers, pharmacies, and other offices, triaging calls appropriately.
- Schedule appointments, provide patient reminders, and follow up with no-show patients.
- Process requests for referrals and prescription refills.
- Handle prior authorizations.
- Register patients in the electronic medical record, confirm insurance eligibility, and answer patients' questions about billing and insurance.
- Coordinate care with other offices as needed.
- Support the providers in their day-to-day schedules.
In the office, when covering the front desk:
- Check patients in and out, collect payments, and copy and mail medical records.
- Work as part of the front desk team to provide high quality patient care.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience in a medical office: front desk, scheduling, or billing.
- Strong communication skills and phone etiquette; many of our patients are older adults.
- Strong computer skills; experience with Epic is a plus.
- Organized and accurate with billing detail; APCM billing is monthly, per patient, and has to be right.
- A quiet home workspace and reliable internet. We provide an IP phone and a desktop PC for your home office.
- Dependable and flexible. Some coverage days are scheduled in advance (planned vacations); others come up same-day when the front desk is short-staffed.
