Job DescriptionPride Health is hiring a Phlebotomist to support our client’s medical facility in Somerville, MA. This is a 5+ month contract assignment (convertible to permanent based on your work performance). And a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organisation!
Specific Duties:

Collects blood specimens through venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks for laboratory testing.

Collects non-blood specimens, including urine, sputum, and throat swabs.

Verifies patient identity and laboratory requisitions before specimen collection.

Prepares patients for procedures, explains collection techniques, and ensures patient comfort.

Labels, dates, times, and documents all collected specimens accurately.

Processes, handles, and prepares specimens for laboratory testing.

Performs laboratory tests, quality control, equipment calibration, and troubleshooting.

Maintains proper infection control practices, including handwashing and PPE use.

Follows safety protocols for handling biohazardous materials and disposing of sharps.

Maintains a clean, organized laboratory area and ensures adequate supplies.

Communicates with laboratory staff and medical personnel regarding specimen-related issues.

Performs clerical duties, maintains collection records, and assists with laboratory operations.
Requirements
-
High school diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSET, TASC) from an accredited institution.

Completion of an accredited phlebotomy technical training program.

Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification and CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred).

Knowledge of medical terminology and proficiency in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
