Job DescriptionPosition Overview
We are excited to announce an opening for a full-time, Certified Athletic Trainer Physical Therapist at our Norwood facility. This role will involve a combination of responsibilities, including patient care in a sports medicine clinic and providing afternoon medical support at a designated high school.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conducts thorough diagnostic evaluations based on referrals, adhering to departmental and professional standards.
- Confirms the validity of referrals, reaching out to providers when necessary. Reviews patient medical histories and selects, administers, and interprets both standardized and non-standardized assessments to evaluate patients’ functional capabilities in areas such as cardiopulmonary, developmental, musculoskeletal, neurological, and sensorimotor functions.
- Utilizes clinical knowledge to inform decisions and recommendations. Designs and implements tailored treatment plans for each patient.
- Sets treatment objectives and applies suitable physical therapy techniques and modalities. Develops discharge plans and home care programs while educating patients and their families.
- Tracks treatment results, adjusting programs as required, and communicates findings to physicians and other healthcare providers. Suggests orthotics, adaptive equipment, and technology for patients, including those with complex or multiple conditions, ensuring that clinical decisions align with treatment goals.
- Engages with equipment manufacturers and vendors to discuss specifications and patient requirements. Instructs patients, families, and caregivers on the use of prescribed orthotics and equipment, monitors their effectiveness, and makes necessary adjustments. Maintains accurate records of assessments, diagnoses, and treatments in accordance with documentation standards.
- Prepares reports, correspondence, referrals, and other necessary documentation for schools, providers, payors, and others. Assigns appropriate billing codes and charges for reimbursement purposes.
- Communicates patient care assignments and scheduling requirements to facilitate operational planning. Proactively enhances clinical knowledge and skills through involvement in professional organizations, continuing education, peer reviews, and other relevant resources.
- Shares insights gained from professional development with the team. Participates in team meetings, patient care discussions, and interdisciplinary forums, providing physical therapy consultations to physicians and outpatient clinics as needed. Represents the service in committees, meetings, and educational events within the organization. May engage in research, teaching, or advocacy to advance the profession. Acts as a resource in general pediatrics.
Qualifications Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy
Experience:
- One to two years of relevant physical therapy experience is preferred, with pediatric hospital experience being a plus.
Licensure/Certifications:
- Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of Massachusetts
- Certification as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) is mandatory
Work Schedule
This position operates Monday through Friday, with weekend coverage as needed.
New hires will receive a sign-on bonus of $5,000!
