Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A school district in Adams, MA is seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers to support students in elementary school settings. This contract position offers full-time hours working onsite within sub separate classrooms catering to grades K-1 and 3rd-5th with a focus on severe caseloads.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specially designed instruction tailored to students with significant cognitive and physical disabilities
- Provide support for toileting and other daily living activities as needed
- Collaborate with RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) staff assisting certain students, including those on the autism spectrum and non-verbal learners
- Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that reflect applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment within the classroom and throughout the school
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in special education, particularly working with severe disabilities
- Knowledge and practical experience applying behavior analysis to instruction
- Ability to manage varied caseloads with diverse student needs
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to partner effectively with a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to working onsite within the school environment
