Located in Amherst, MA, this full-time contractual role offers an opportunity to provide vital 1:1 paraprofessional support within a K-12 life skills classroom. The focus is on assisting a student with significant communication and physical needs, fostering engagement, safety, and participation throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalized assistance with toileting, including dressing, diaper changing, and wiping.
  • Escort the student to and from the nurses office three times daily for nurse-administered g-tube feeding.
  • Provide hand-over-hand support for classroom assignments and activities as needed.
  • Support effective communication using a communication board on an iPad and assist with trials of new communication programs.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment, encouraging the students engagement despite limited verbal communication.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Additionally, an associates degree, a minimum of 48 college credits, or successful completion of a formal assessment such as the ParaPro or WorkKeys test is needed.
  • Prior school-based paraprofessional experience is essential.
  • Bilingual candidates proficient in Spanish are preferred to facilitate communication with the students family, though this is not mandatory.

Position Details:

  • Assignment duration: Immediate start through June 25, 2026.
  • Work hours: Full-time, 35 to 37.5 hours per week from 7:15 AM to 3:10 PM.
  • Location: Life Skills classroom within a K-12 school setting.
