Make an impact in the lives of students by providing specialized support in a vibrant school community near Putney, VT. This contract opportunity seeks dedicated Special Education Teachers for the 2026-2027 academic year—stretching from August 19, 2026, to June 14, 2027. You’ll work onsite 35 hours per week, collaborating with team members to create meaningful learning experiences.
Open positions are available for both high school and elementary settings. Two teachers will spearhead a new pilot program at the high school, supporting students with a wide range of needs including executive functioning, Autism, and severe behavioral challenges—some of whom engage in tech center programming. These roles require adaptability, creativity, and a solution-focused mindset, preparing students for real-world employment and life beyond graduation.
A third role serves an elementary caseload alongside an established team, supporting students with learning disabilities and high-functioning Autism. Occupational and physical therapists partner with the classroom, fostering a collaborative environment for student success.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Vermont Teaching License with one or more of the following endorsements: Special Educator, Special Education Consulting Teacher, or Intensive Special Education Teacher
- Experience or passion for working with neurodiverse populations and students presenting significant behavioral or learning needs
- Innovative, flexible approach to individualized education planning
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Fingerprinting required (recently approved fingerprints from other assignments accepted)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and individualized support tailored to student IEPs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families
- Utilize data-driven strategies to track student progress
- Develop functional and academic skills for life preparedness
