Location: Woodsville, NH
Duration - 14 Weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (MS RN) to provide quality patient care in an acute-care hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years of recent RN experience, with Telemetry experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to Medical/Surgical patients.
- Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor changes in condition.
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
- Monitor patients with cardiac and other acute medical conditions.
- Perform phlebotomy, IV starts, and EKGs.
- Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
- Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and clinical emergencies.
- Educate patients and families regarding care and treatment plans.
- Follow all safety, infection-control, and hospital policies.
Common Patient Diagnoses
The RN may care for patients with:
- Post-operative general surgery cases, including hernia repairs, resections, and cholecystectomies
- Post-amputation patients
- Atrial fibrillation (AFib)
- Congestive heart failure (CHF)
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Withdrawal requiring CIWA monitoring
- Rule-out sepsis and other acute medical conditions
Floating Requirements
- Floating is required as needed.
- The RN may float to a Geriatric-Psychiatric unit.
- Behavioral Health experience is not required.
- When floating, the RN may work in a supportive Helping Hands capacity.
- Candidates must be flexible and comfortable working in different clinical environments.
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license appropriate for the work location.
- 2–3 years of recent RN experience, preferably in Medical/Surgical nursing.
- Telemetry experience preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to perform:
- Phlebotomy
- IV starts
- EKGs
- Medication administration
- Patient assessments and monitoring
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Flexibility with assignments and floating requirements.
EMR
Oracle EMR experience preferred.
