Position Summary:

The Licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist will provide patient-centered hearing evaluations, hearing aid fittings, and follow-up care in alignment with hospital standards and state licensure requirements. The role works closely with audiologists and other clinical teams to deliver coordinated care for outpatient populations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive hearing aid assessments and hearing aid fittings.

  • Counsel patients and families regarding hearing loss, device use, and communication strategies.

  • Collaborate with audiologists, otolaryngologists, and primary care providers to ensure integrated care.

  • Manage follow-up appointments, adjustments, and repair coordination.

  • Document services accurately within the hospital’s electronic medical record (EMR).

  • Maintain compliance with all hospital, state, and federal regulations governing hearing aid dispensing.

Qualifications:

  • Active Hearing Instrument Specialist license (Massachusetts) required.

  • Minimum one year of experience in a healthcare or audiology setting preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a multicultural patient base and varied payor mix.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and clinical documentation skills.

  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to patient advocacy.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates Degree; Massachusetts Hearing Instrument Specialist license
