Key Responsibilities\n

  • Conduct thorough initial assessments and interviews, documenting clients' histories from the first consultation through to the completion of treatment.

  • Evaluate clients’ mental, behavioral, and emotional health, using evidence-based assessments and therapeutic techniques.
  • \n

  • Develop personalized intervention strategies and comprehensive recovery plans that address the unique needs of individuals, couples, and families.
  • \n

  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, creating a safe and supportive environment that encourages open dialogue and healing.
  • \n

  • Monitor clients’ progress throughout their treatment plans, making necessary adjustments and providing ongoing support.
  • \n

  • Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists and social workers, to create cohesive intervention plans.
  • \n

  • Provide follow-up care for clients recently discharged from hospitalization, ensuring seamless transitions and continuity of care.
  • \n

  • Identify and address behaviors that may hinder recovery, offering strategies and support to facilitate positive change.
  • \n

  • Support family members and primary caregivers by providing guidance on managing loved ones' mental and behavioral health challenges.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at West Hills Behavioral Health Center, you will work with a diverse client population dealing with a range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders. Your role will focus on empowering clients to achieve better emotional regulation, enhancing interpersonal relationships, and improving overall life satisfaction.

Qualifications\n

  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

  • Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LMHC, or LICSW in the state of Massachusetts.
  • \n

  • A successful completion of the National Counselor Exam (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
  • \n

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, allowing effective collaboration with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • \n

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a genuine empathic demeanor toward clients and their families.

Preferred Experience\n

  • Prior experience as a mental health counselor, particularly in outpatient settings.

  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems, such as AVATAR, for efficient documentation and case management.
  • \n

  • Experience in dealing with clients with co-occurring physical, emotional, and addiction disorders.

  • Knowledge of American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) best practices.
  • \n

  • In-depth understanding of medications prescribed by healthcare providers and their effects on mental health.

Compensation and Benefits\n
