This contract opportunity is in a close-knit 5/6 school with an inclusive, student-centered approach, guided by a principal who brings firsthand knowledge as a former special educator. You will have the chance to collaborate with a dedicated team, including a full-time interventionist and a SEL counselor, ensuring every child’s needs are addressed with care and creativity.

The special education caseload includes approximately 22 fantastic students with mild to moderate specific learning disabilities, primarily focusing on math and literacy interventions. With just around 100 students in the school, you’ll enjoy meaningful connections—both with your students and fellow staff members—as you deliver impactful individualized education.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility for certification)
  • Experience supporting students with SLDs (mild to moderate), especially in math and literacy
  • Strong collaborative skills for working with teaching staff, counselors, and families
  • Ability to design and implement differentiated instruction and IEPs
  • Passion for fostering an inclusive, welcoming classroom climate

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide small group and individual instruction to students with identified needs
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in accordance with state and federal guidelines
  • Collaborate with interventionists, counselors, general education teachers, and caregivers
  • Participate in data-driven planning sessions to continually adapt supports
  • Encourage positive social-emotional growth and self-advocacy among students
