We are seeking a highly technical Enterprise Architecture Leader to spearhead the evolution of our architecture and engineering practices to help us enable our businesses in new and differentiating ways. This is a rare opportunity to architect the future of a rapidly growing, global insurance company. As the Enterprise Architecture Leader, you will be the chief architect of our digital future—responsible for defining and executing a bold architectural vision that enables scale, agility, and innovation. You will lead a unified team of architects and partner closely with engineering, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and business leaders to ensure our technology landscape is secure, efficient, and aligned with strategic business goals. This role will shape how we build by driving modern architecture, instituting contemporary patterns, and establishing standards and enablers that have a direct impact on business outcomes. This position will have the support of the executive leadership team, and the opportunity to leave a lasting impact on a global scale.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Define and drive the enterprise architecture strategy, vision, and roadmap aligning business and technology goals to support BHSI’s growth and operational excellence
  • Establish architecture governance, enforce technology and tool standards, and lead rationalization efforts to reduce technology complexity, risk, and costs in the system
  • Champion a high-performance engineering framework to elevate code quality, reduce security vulnerabilities, and foster a culture of continuous improvement
  • Develop and operationalize a technical debt framework to assess, score, and remediate architectural and code-level debt across the enterprise
  • Enhance the productivity and satisfaction of our engineering teams by optimizing tools, workflows, and automation practices by operationalizing Developer Experience (DevEx) practices
  • Promote continuous improvement through education, coaching, and measurement of architecture and engineering quality
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with architectural decisions in collaboration with Cybersecurity and Infrastructure teams
  • Build and lead a Business Architecture team to bridge business capabilities with technology solutions, ensuring strategic alignment and value delivery
  • Align business strategy with execution through capability mapping, process modeling, and value stream analysis
  • Provide architectural oversight for major technology initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals
  • Lead the design and review of complex systems and solutions across the enterprise to ensure we’re building highly scalable, resilient, and secure solutions
  • Drive the company toward modern delivery models such as cloud-native architectures and DevSecOps
  • Lead our Emerging Technology team to help align AI initiatives with the specific needs and goals of the business
  • Foster a culture of experimentation, continuous learning, and innovation to build and scale AI capabilities, including platforms, tools, and talent development
  • Act as a trusted advisor to technology leaders and teams, and business stakeholders across regions and functions, to educate and raise awareness of the importance of strong Enterprise Architecture disciplines

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • At least 15 years of experience managing technology teams, including a minimum of 5 years in enterprise architecture leadership
  • Proven experience leading enterprise architecture functions in complex, fast-paced environments, ideally within regulated industries such as insurance or financial services
  • Deep technical expertise across application, data, and infrastructure domains
  • Mastery of modern architecture frameworks and engineering best practices
  • A track record of driving standardization, reducing technical debt, and improving developer experience
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills across engineering teams and business stakeholders
  • A passion for mentoring technical talent and fostering a high-performance culture
  • Ability to see the “big picture” and align architecture with long-term business strategies
  • Expertise in systems thinking to understand and optimize the interdependencies across business units, platforms, and technologies
  • Deep knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman
  • Vast experience implementing architecture governance models, including Architecture Review Boards and standards enforcement
  • Strong foundation in software engineering, application and data architecture, integration patterns, and infrastructure design
  • Passion for staying current with emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, and Agentic AI
  • Ability to influence senior business leaders, including executives, through clear communication and strategic insight
  • Skilled in cross-functional collaboration, especially with business functions, engineering, security, infrastructure, and operations teams
  • Experience leading organizational change and driving adoption of new architectural practices
  • Comfortable working in agile environments, with a focus on continuous improvement and delivery
