Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A Special Education Teacher position is available at a school in Amherst, MA, on a contract basis. This role focuses on providing tailored educational support to students with special needs, ensuring they achieve academic and social success within the school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) aligned with state standards
- Adapt curriculum and instructional methods to meet diverse student needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and parents to support student progress
- Monitor and document student performance and behavior
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere to encourage student growth and engagement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification or licensure
- Experience working with students with diverse disabilities
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage classrooms effectively and create individualized learning strategies
- Familiarity with state and federal special education regulations
