Our client a major global pharmaceutical innovator is seeking a visionary executive to serve as the Head of Clinical Data Science. This senior leadership position is designed for a strategic expert who can revolutionize data science capabilities across the entire drug development lifecycle. The successful candidate will transition the department from traditional biostatistics into a modern integrated innovation hub that drives faster decision making and improves regulatory outcomes.

Role Overview

\n


\n

In this enterprise level role you will define the global strategy and operating model for clinical data science. You will lead the modernization of study designs and ensure the organization is equipped with the latest predictive methods and advanced analytics. This position manages a global matrixed organization including therapeutic area heads and platform leaders focused on automation and shared standards. You will serve as a key member of the leadership team reporting to the Head of Data Quality and Solutions to deliver sustainable value across the research and development portfolio.

Primary Responsibilities

\n


\n

Design and execute the long term vision for clinical data science biostatistics and statistical programming.

\n


\n

Build and mentor a high performing global team focusing on talent development and succession planning.

\n


\n

Drive innovation in clinical trial methodology and analysis strategy from early stage development through registration.

\n


\n

Oversee the delivery of compliant inspection ready outputs for regulatory submissions and integrated summaries.

\n


\n

Implement enterprise wide platforms for data visualization simulation and decision support frameworks.

\n


\n

Establish consistent governance and data standards across all therapeutic areas to ensure quality and efficiency.

\n


\n

Act as a strategic partner to senior research and medical leaders providing quantitative guidance for major asset decisions.

\n


\n

Manage the global operational budget and represent the function in executive governance forums.

\n


\n

Required Qualifications

\n


\n

Advanced degree in Biostatistics Data Science Statistics or a similar quantitative field with a PhD preferred.

\n


\n

At least 15 years of leadership experience within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.

\n


\n

Extensive background in clinical data engineering programming and biostatistics.

\n


\n

Proven history of managing large globally dispersed and matrixed teams.

\n


\n

Demonstrated success in leading business process transformations and organizational change.

\n


\n

Deep knowledge of global regulatory requirements and health authority interactions.

\n


\n

Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at the executive and board levels.

\n


\n

Strong expertise in quantitative approaches for drug development decision making.

\n


\n

Compensation

\n


\n

The estimated base salary range for this position is between 352000 and 484000 dollars per year. The final offer will depend on the candidates education specialized skills and depth of relevant experience. This is a full time regular employee position based in Boston.
