Location: Hyannis, MA
Duration: 13 Weeks
Employment Type: Contract (Traveler or Local)
Shift: Day Shift
Schedule: Monday–Friday (Occasional Holidays Required)
Shift Options:

  • 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Hours: 40 Hours Per Week

Compensation

Pay Rate: $66 - $75/Hour (Based on Experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Oncology to provide comprehensive care to patients receiving both curative and palliative cancer treatments in an outpatient setting. The RN will be responsible for delivering patient-centered care, administering medications, performing clinical assessments, educating patients and families, and supporting individuals throughout their oncology treatment journey.

The ideal candidate will have outpatient oncology experience, strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

ResponsibilitiesPatient Care & Clinical Assessment

  • Deliver nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Perform ongoing physical, psychological, and social assessments of oncology patients.
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized patient care plans.
  • Monitor patient conditions and identify changes requiring intervention.
  • Provide compassionate care to patients undergoing curative and palliative treatment.

Medication Administration & Treatment Support

  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders and clinical protocols.
  • Monitor and document patient responses to medications and therapies.
  • Support symptom management and treatment-related care needs.
  • Ensure safe medication administration practices and compliance with clinical standards.

Patient Education & Support

  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, symptom management, and self-care strategies.
  • Provide emotional support and counseling throughout the cancer care continuum.
  • Assist patients and families in understanding treatment expectations and available resources.
  • Support patients facing complex or terminal diagnoses with compassion and professionalism.

Documentation & Collaboration

  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record documentation.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, social workers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Participate in care coordination and patient advocacy activities.
  • Serve as a charge nurse when assigned and act as a resource for staff and patients.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with facility policies, infection prevention standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient care evaluations.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and professional nursing standards at all times.

Required QualificationsEducation

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) License required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
  • Successful completion of facility-required Pharmacology Examination.

Experience

  • Outpatient Oncology Nursing experience required.
  • Travel nursing experience required.
  • Strong English communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Experience providing oncology education and counseling.
  • Experience supporting patients receiving palliative care.
  • Experience working with terminally ill patients and their families.
