Description\n

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a fast-paced adult surgical unit specializing in trauma and acute care surgical patients, requiring a minimum of 1.5 years of recent Med/Surg experience and a NH or Compact RN license.

  • 36-bed adult surgical unit in a hospital setting, primarily serving trauma and acute care surgical patients
  • \n

  • Patient population includes spinal cord injuries (new quadriplegics and paraplegics), traumatic brain injuries, orthopedic trauma, hernia repairs, small bowel obstructions, appendectomies, and cholecystectomies
  • \n

  • Unit includes 2 negative pressure rooms capable of serving the COVID patient population
  • \n

  • RN-to-patient ratio: 1:4 on days, 1:5 on nights
  • \n

  • LNA-to-patient ratio: 1:12
  • \n

  • Day/night rotating schedule
  • \n

  • Telemetry monitoring required on unit
  • \n

Requirements\n

    \n
  • Active NH RN license or Compact RN license required (proof of state residency required for Compact license holders)
  • \n

  • Current BLS certification required
  • \n

  • Minimum of 1.5 years of recent, equivalent Med/Surg experience required
  • \n

  • Recent Level I Trauma Center experience required, or several years of Level II Trauma Center experience; experience must be within the last 2 years
  • \n

  • Experience with chest tubes, trachs, and laryngectomies required
  • \n

  • Experience managing drips including Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, and amiodarone required
  • \n

  • Experience with lines, tubes, and drains for post-surgical patients required
  • \n

  • Central line care, maintenance, and blood draws experience required
  • \n

  • Experience with complex wound management required
  • \n

  • Two managerial references required for consideration
  • \n

  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
  • \n

  • Focus of care is on rehabilitating and supporting patient recovery in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
