Audiology Assistant (PT)

Employment type: Part time, M,W,F flexible hours

Our Speech & Hearing department provides comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative hearing care within a collaborative, interdisciplinary hospital environment. Position Summary:

The Audiology Assistant supports the clinical operations of the hospital’s audiology team under the direct supervision of a licensed Doctor of Audiology. This position is ideal for a 2nd- or 3rd-yearAu.D. student seeking hands-on clinical experience in both technology and patient care. The role offers flexible, part-time hours and the opportunity to learn within a collaborative, professional environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with patient history intake and documentation.

  • Order, receive, and prepare hearing aids and related technology for appointments.

  • Troubleshoot hearing devices, coordinate manufacturer repairs, and draft requests for authorizations.

  • Provide instruction to patients and families on the use and care of prescriptive hearing technology.

  • Schedule appointments and support day-to-day operations within the department.

  • Maintain organization of clinical equipment, supplies, files, and records.

  • Support community hearing health initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications:

Candidates must provide evidence of one of the following educational pathways:

  1. Bachelor's Degree with a major in Communication Disorders;

  2. Bachelor's Degree and certificate from a Board-approved Speech Language Pathology or Audiology Assistant program; or

  3. Associate's, Bachelor's or advanced degree with 18 semester credit hours in Speech Language Pathology and/or Audiology, including 6 credits in disorders of speech, language or hearing or other coursework as approved by the Board.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with hearing aid cleaning, minor repairs, and able to provide some supportive assistance with educating individuals on use and care of the device.

  • Eligible to become licensed as an Audiology Assistant in the State of Massachusetts.

  • Hearing Instrument Specialist licensure also considered.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated professionalism and interest in technology and patient-focused care.
