Job Description

Senior Technical Program Manager – Robotics Systems

A rapidly growing robotics company is seeking a highly experienced Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of advanced robotics systems designed for large-scale automation environments.

This role is ideal for an experienced technical program manager with a strong background in robotics, automation, or hardware-intensive systems who has successfully led complex programs in fast-paced, innovation-driven environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple programs supporting the development of complex robotic systems, ensuring high-quality deliverables from early concept through deployment and production scaling.
  • Develop and manage strategic program schedules across multiple initiatives, ensuring key milestones are delivered on time while proactively managing dependencies and risks.
  • Enable engineering teams to focus on innovation by improving workflows, removing operational bottlenecks, and implementing scalable program management processes.
  • Partner closely with engineering, product, technology development, and operations leadership to define program strategies, technical milestones, requirements, and success metrics.
  • Create comprehensive program plans covering mechanical, electrical, embedded, and software development activities.
  • Drive cross-functional communication and coordination across engineering, operations, and leadership teams to resolve technical challenges and maintain program momentum.
  • Manage and improve engineering change management processes, including bill of materials (BOM) management, drawing releases, version control, and configuration traceability.
  • Provide clear and consistent program updates to stakeholders including engineering teams, executives, partners, and customers while proactively managing risks.
  • Ensure programs meet relevant industry safety standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices for robotics development.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, and deployment teams to support product readiness, production scaling, and field deployment.
  • Track program health through defined metrics, identify risks early, and implement corrective actions to keep programs on track.
  • Support and mentor engineers and junior program managers on program management best practices and cross-functional coordination.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in technical program management within robotics, automation, autonomous systems, or other hardware-intensive technology environments.
  • Strong understanding of robotics systems including sensors, actuators, embedded systems, motion control, and hardware/software integration.
  • Proven experience leading complex multidisciplinary programs from concept through deployment and large-scale production.
  • Experience managing engineering change management processes, including BOM management, drawing releases, and configuration control.
  • Familiarity with PLM tools and product lifecycle management processes.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies including waterfall, phase-gated development, agile, and scrum.
  • Experience using project management tools such as Jira, Smartsheet, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs, prioritize critical workstreams, and solve complex development challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to align engineering teams, leadership, and external partners around shared program goals.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, supply chain coordination, and production scaling for hardware products.
  • Strong ability to operate effectively in fast-paced environments with evolving priorities and technical complexity.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Highly organized, self-driven, and motivated to work in technically demanding robotics development environments.
