Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Adaptive Physical Education or Physical Education with an APE endorsement
- Experience developing and implementing adaptive PE curriculum for K-12 students
- Knowledge of current best practices in physical education and inclusive instruction
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, parents, and staff
- Ability to assess student abilities and create individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Previous experience in a school setting is highly desirable
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging adaptive physical education lessons tailored to students’ physical, cognitive, and emotional needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and special education teams to support students’ overall development
- Monitor and document student progress, modifying strategies as necessary to achieve IEP goals
- Encourage a positive, supportive, and inclusive atmosphere where every student feels valued and challenged
- Communicate proactively with families and school personnel regarding student progress and modifications
- Stay current with trends in adaptive physical education, attending professional development as needed
