Job Description

Job Description

If you're an experienced PCA, home health aide, or in-home caregiver, and you want work that fits around your life — not the other way around. Whole Hearted Home Care is a growing New England agency with more open shifts than we can currently cover, and we're building a per diem group of experienced aides who can step in when a client needs coverage. You set your availability. We match you with shifts near you. The only firm ask: work at least one shift every week so your skills stay sharp and your clients stay familiar with you.

A typical shift

  • Help a client start or end their day: personal hygiene, dressing, meals, light housekeeping, companionship
  • Assist with mobility, transfers, and safety around the home
  • Provide medication reminders and follow the client's care plan
  • Log your visit and any changes in the client's condition in our app before you leave
  • Check in with the office if anything needs attention

Some days you'll cover a client you already know. Other days you'll be the first caregiver into a new client's home, working from a detailed rundown the office gives you before you arrive. We need people who can handle both.

You're a fit if you have

  • 3 or more years of hands-on caregiving experience (PCA, HHA, home care aide, DSP, or similar)
  • A track record of reliability — you keep the commitments you make
  • Strong communication — you answer texts and calls, confirm your shifts, and keep the office in the loop
  • Genuine compassion for older adults and people living with disabilities
  • Confidence working on your own in someone's home
  • A valid driver's license, dependable transportation, and current auto insurance
  • The ability to pass a background check, plus a TB test and physical from the last 12 months (we'll point you to a clinic if you need one)
  • Dementia experience is a plus and earns a higher rate

Straight talk about per diem We'd rather tell you now than surprise you later.

  1. You must work at least one shift per week to stay on the active per diem list.
  2. We count extra shifts. Each month we look at how many additional shifts each per diem aide picked up. That number drives who gets offered the best hours, who gets the strongest reviews, and who we promote to part-time or full-time first.
  3. You'll sometimes go in cold. New client, no prior visit, just a thorough briefing from the office. Being willing to do this is part of the job.

Per diem is last in line when hours are short. If client hours ever dip, full-time aides keep their hours first, then part-time, then per diem. That's not the situation today — we're growing and have hours to spare — but you should know how it works.

Where this can go Plenty of our part-time and full-time caregivers started per diem. If you're reliable, responsive, and picking up shifts, you'll be the first person we call when we're adding regular hours. Annual reviews and raises are tied to availability, willingness to fill in when asked, willingness to travel, and what your clients say about you.

What you get

  • Paid every week
  • Competitive wages that beat most local agencies, scaled to your experience
  • Paid orientation and training
  • Mileage reimbursement for travel outside your usual area
  • Referral bonus for bringing in caregivers who stay
  • An office that picks up the phone
