Meadow Breeze Day Camp is looking to fill positions for our 8-week summer camp programs, grades Kindergarten to 11th grade. LCA is a grade 6-12 independent Christian school located in Lexington, MA. Since 1966, Meadow Breeze Day Camp at LCA has been offering an exceptional traditional day camp for kids of all ages.


As a Summer Camp Junior Counselor, you will be an essential part of the camp staff, supporting the well-being and engagement of campers. This role provides an opportunity for young individuals to gain valuable experience in a camp setting, develop leadership skills, and contribute to creating a positive and memorable camp experience for all.

Responsibilities:

  • Camper Assistance:

    • Assist campers with daily routines, activities, and transitions.

    • Be a positive and approachable presence, fostering a supportive environment.

  • Activity Support:

    • Aid counselors and activity specialists in organizing and facilitating camp activities.

    • Assist with the setup and cleanup of equipment and materials.

  • Role Modeling:

    • Demonstrate positive behavior, responsibility, and respect for camp rules.

    • Serve as a role model for younger campers, embodying the camp's values.

  • Team Collaboration:

    • Work collaboratively with senior counselors, instructors, and other staff members.

    • Participate in team-building exercises and training sessions.

  • Safety Oversight:

    • Assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for campers.

    • Follow and reinforce safety guidelines and emergency procedures.

  • Peer Support:

    • Provide peer support to fellow junior counselors and actively contribute to a positive team dynamic.

    • Encourage open communication and camaraderie among the camp staff.

  • Communication:

    • Communicate effectively with campers, senior counselors, and other staff members.

    • Report any concerns or issues to senior counselors or camp leadership.

  • Learning and Development:

    • Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance leadership and interpersonal skills.

    • Seek opportunities to learn about various aspects of camp operations.

Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm for working with children and a desire to contribute to their camp experience.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Willingness to follow instructions and learn from experienced camp staff.

  • Ability to work well in a team and take initiative when needed.

  • Completion of required training sessions and orientations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 16 years of age

  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Certification (recommended)

  • Complete a CORI background check

  • Attend all training sessions

DATES: June 22-August 14, 2025, Mon-Fri


TIME: Day camps run every week day from 8:00AM-3:00PM and AfterCamp runs every week day from 3:30PM-5:30PM


PAY: Seasonal, $15-$17/hr based on experience


SCHEDULE: Camp training & orientation is June 15th & June 16th, 2026. Apart from our specialty camps, staff are asked to work a majority of the 8 weeks of camp. There is no camp on July 3rd due to the 4th of July holiday weekend. Camp staff need to arrive each day at 7:30AM and are expected to stay until 3:30PM, unless working AfterCamp.
