Our client in Brockton, MA is seeking a full-time DESE Education Advisor to become apart of their team!
Position Overview:
The Education Advisor supports students in developing and achieving their Education and Career Plans (ECPs). This includes aligning students’ interests, abilities, and goals with career pathways and guiding them through the necessary steps to prepare for employment or post-secondary opportunities.Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students in creating, clarifying, and monitoring individualized education and career goals.
- Help students establish realistic timelines and track progress toward goal completion.
- Provide advising for career planning, employment readiness, and post-secondary education/training opportunities.
- Connect students with community resources to support academic success, address barriers, and promote attendance.
- Collaborate with teachers to ensure student goals inform classroom instruction and services.
- Support student transitions to concurrent programs and next steps in their education or career.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with workforce development agencies, community colleges, employers, state agencies, and local organizations.
- Maintain accurate and confidential advising records, including required follow-up and documentation per Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE) protocols.
- Conduct quarterly follow-ups with current and former students to assess progress and update database records.
- Organize and coordinate student recruitment and intake activities to meet enrollment goals.
- Administer placement testing and assessments (e.g., BEST Plus, CLAS-E) to measure student progress.
- Coordinate site activities and programming with the Regional Manager.
- Support reporting, recordkeeping, and other program-related functions.
- Outstation at MASSHIRE as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) required.
- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of counseling, advising, or human relations experience preferred.
- Skills & Attributes:
- Strong communication and human relations skills.
- Ability to motivate and support a diverse, multicultural student population.
- Knowledge of local community resources.
- Computer literacy required.
- High level of initiative, flexibility, creativity, and organizational skills.
- Team-oriented with the ability to work collaboratively toward program goals.
- Preferred: Multicultural and bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply.
Shift: Monday-Friday
Hours: 12PM-8PM
