Camp Abnaki is looking for hardworking, reliable, and upbeat individuals to help maintain our beautiful 89-acre campus on the shores of Lake Champlain. As part of the Property Team, you'll help keep camp safe, clean, and ready for adventure all summer long – from mowing fields where epic games of capture the flag unfold to preparing cabins for excited campers arriving each week. If you love working with your hands, being outdoors, and contributing behind the scenes to an unforgettable camp experience, this role is for you.

This seasonal position has a contract from June 9 through August 22. Possibilities of pre-season and post-season work are also available.

What You’ll Do

  • Keep Camp Beautiful: Assist with mowing, trimming, brush clearing, trail upkeep, and general landscaping.
  • Support Daily Repairs: Help with basic building fixes, painting, cleaning, and small improvement projects.
  • Prep Spaces for Programs: Set up and maintain facilities for campers, groups, and families.
  • Maintain Tools & Equipment: Care for equipment like mowers and hand tools under the guidance of the Property Manager.
  • Monitor Camp Safety: Report maintenance concerns and help keep the camp environment hazard-free.
  • Pitch In Where Needed: Respond to maintenance requests, assist in emergencies, and contribute to general camp operations.
  • Live the Y Values: Show Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility in all interactions.

Salary

$500 - $672.48 / week based on 6-day work week

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to learn and follow instructions related to landscaping, facility care, and basic maintenance tasks.
  • Previous experience in maintenance, landscaping, carpentry, or similar work is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to work independently with reliability and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and use tools/equipment responsibly.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with staff and campers of all ages.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and perform physical labor in outdoor environments for extended periods.
  • Patience, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to changing tasks or schedules.
  • Ability to reside at camp for the duration of the summer contract.
