We are looking for a Fire Alarm Installation Technician to join a growing fire alarm team. This is a mid-level field position focused on the installation, wiring, testing, and startup of commercial fire alarm systems.
The ideal candidate has hands-on commercial fire alarm installation experience, can work from drawings, understands fire alarm wiring and devices, and is comfortable working independently while continuing to develop their technical skills.
Responsibilities
- Install, wire, test, and support commercial fire alarm systems
- Install fire alarm panels, devices, modules, notification appliances, power supplies, and related equipment
- Pull, terminate, label, and troubleshoot fire alarm cabling
- Read and interpret fire alarm drawings, wiring diagrams, and device layouts
- Follow engineered designs and complete installations according to project requirements
- Assist with system startup, testing, inspections, and commissioning
- Identify and correct installation issues in the field
- Support senior technicians with programming, troubleshooting, and system commissioning
- Perform system modifications, additions, and upgrades as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation of installation work and system changes
- Communicate effectively with customers, project managers, and other technicians
- Work safely and maintain a professional jobsite
Qualifications
- 2+ years of commercial fire alarm installation experience preferred
- Hands-on experience installing and wiring fire alarm systems
- Experience with Notifier, Fire-Lite, Potter, or comparable commercial fire alarm systems preferred
- Ability to read and understand fire alarm drawings and wiring diagrams
- Basic understanding of fire alarm devices, circuits, power supplies, and system components
- Ability to troubleshoot basic wiring and installation issues
- Comfortable working independently while knowing when to involve senior technical support
- Professional communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to continue developing programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont
- Massachusetts Class D license preferred
- Candidates currently working toward a Massachusetts Class D license will also be considered
