A hospital located in Central Massachusetts, approximately one hour from Worcester, is seeking an experienced Medical Technologist (MT) / Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join its laboratory team.
\n
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity working four 10-hour overnight shifts per week, with rotating weekends and required holiday coverage. The ideal candidate will be an experienced hospital laboratory generalist who is comfortable working across multiple clinical laboratory areas.

- $26.66–$35.18/hour
- Approximately $55,453–$73,174 annually, based on 40 hours per week

Duties & Responsibilities\n
- \n
- Perform clinical laboratory testing across multiple clinical laboratory areas.
- Work as a generalist across areas including blood bank, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and microbiology.
- Accurately perform, evaluate, and report laboratory testing according to established procedures and quality standards.
- Review test results for accuracy and identify abnormal and critical values.
- Follow established protocols for result verification and reporting.
- Perform quality control testing and document corrective actions.
- Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- Process and evaluate patient specimens while ensuring proper identification, handling, and preparation.
- Communicate critical laboratory results promptly to the appropriate clinical team.
- Perform specimen collection and phlebotomy as required.
- Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and support regulatory compliance.
- Prioritize testing based on clinical urgency while maintaining appropriate turnaround times.
- Rotate through multiple laboratory benches to support department operations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and other laboratory projects.
- Follow all established laboratory safety, infection control, chemical hygiene, and regulatory procedures.

Qualifications\n
- \n
- Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Previous hospital laboratory experience strongly preferred.
- Experienced certified hospital generalists are the priority.
- Generalist experience across multiple laboratory departments strongly preferred.
- Experience in blood bank, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and microbiology highly preferred.
- ASCP or equivalent certification preferred, as applicable.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality patient care.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital laboratory environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and critical-thinking skills.
- New graduates and uncertified candidates may be considered with prior approval.
