Valley Medical Group is looking for a Phlebotomy Coordinator to join our Laboratory team and work in our Easthampton Health Center. If you are looking for a dynamic environment, this is your opportunity!

Position: Phlebotomy Coordinator

Location: Easthampton with travel between Greenfield, Northampton and Amherst Health Centers

Hours: 40 hours, Monday - Friday generally between 8:00am and 5:00pm. Hours may vary depending on department needs. Exact schedule to be discussed at time of interview.

The Phlebotomy Coordinator supervises the daily operations of the Valley Medical Group Drawing Stations, and acts as a liaison to the Laboratory Manager, Lead Technologist, and Nurse Team Leaders. The Phlebotomy Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining work schedules and ensuring the compliance of all policies and procedures of the lab.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the development, implementation, and adherence to departmental and organizational policies and procedures
  • Ensures compliance with state, federal, and local regulations, guidelines and accreditation agencies
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility in ensuring appropriate purchases, disbursement of funds and accountability
  • Monitors performance measures; Identifies areas for improvement of performance
  • Develops staff through role modeling, coaching and mentoring utilizing optimism and enthusiasm. Align staff and projects to achieve initiatives
  • Provide ongoing feedback and perform evaluations in a timely manner

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; Associates Degree preferred
  • Certified Phlebotomist or Certified Medical Assistant with minimum 3 years experience in phlebotomy
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory policies and procedures
  • Ability to handle and process specimens for transportation/analysis
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; travel between health centers is required

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with staff development, training, mentoring, and education to support competency development of assigned team
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to establish priorities in fast paced health care environment.
  • EMR experience (Athena preferred)
