Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Physical Education, Adapted Physical Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching license and Adaptive Physical Education endorsement/certification, as required
- Experience designing and implementing adapted PE programs for students with disabilities
- Strong communication and collaborative skills to work with students, staff, and families
- Understanding of current best practices in inclusive physical education
- Passion for fostering a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and tailor PE curriculum to meet individual student needs, ensuring all activities are accessible and meaningful
- Assess students’ physical abilities, progress, and individualized goals in compliance with IEP/504 plans
- Work closely with classroom teachers, therapists, and family members to support student participation and progress
- Utilize adaptive equipment and creative strategies to accommodate varying abilities
- Document student achievements, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP meetings as needed
- Promote healthy lifestyles, positive attitudes, and sportsmanship in every class
