Job Description

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in overseeing daily sales floor operations, staff supervision, customer service, and store organization. This role ensures a professional, efficient, and customer-focused environment while maintaining high standards expected in a police and public safety uniform retail setting.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Floor & Customer Service Operations

  • Oversee daily operations of the sales floor to ensure smooth workflow and exceptional customer service

  • Assist law enforcement, public safety, and security personnel with uniform fittings, product selection, and special orders

  • Resolve customer concerns in a professional and timely manner

  • Ensure proper presentation of merchandise, displays, and fitting areas

Staff Supervision & Leadership

  • Supervise, support, and guide sales associates and support staff during shifts

  • Assist with training new employees on store procedures, product knowledge, and customer service expectations

  • Delegate tasks and ensure staff productivity and accountability

  • Address performance issues and report concerns to the Store Manager

Inventory & Merchandising

  • Assist with inventory management, including receiving, stocking, and organizing merchandise

  • Monitor stock levels and report low inventory or discrepancies to the Store Manager

  • Ensure accurate tagging, sizing, and placement of uniforms, footwear, and accessories

Operations & Compliance

  • Open and close the store as needed, following all cash handling and security procedures

  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and compliance with company standards

  • Ensure policies, procedures, and safety guidelines are followed at all times

Reporting & Communication

  • Provide daily updates to the Store Manager regarding sales activity, customer feedback, staff performance, and operational issues

  • Communicate supply needs, scheduling concerns, and customer requests clearly and promptly

  • Assist with preparing reports as requested by management

Qualifications & Skills

  • Prior retail management or supervisory experience preferred (uniform, law enforcement, or specialty retail a plus)

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Professional demeanor and ability to work with law enforcement and public safety personnel

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
