Registered Nurse - Medical Telemetry

Job Summary

Provides nursing care to medical patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring on a telemetry unit. Interprets cardiac rhythms, recognizes and responds to arrhythmias, and administers medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders. Coordinates care with the interdisciplinary team and provides education to patients and families.

Education & Experience

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing: Required
• Telemetry, Medical Surgical or acute care nursing experience: Required

Licenses & Certifications

• Registered Nurse licensure in the state of practice: Required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification: Required

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor telemetry patients and maintain continuous cardiac monitoring.
• Interpret cardiac rhythms, identify arrhythmias and intervene according to protocol.
• Administer medications, IV therapy and treatments per physician orders.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating to the provider promptly.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including respiratory therapy, pharmacy and care management.
• Complete accurate documentation and provide patient and family education.
