Location: Boston Metro, MA
Salary Range: $125K-$135K DOE | Exempt
Schedule: Full-time | Monday-Friday, 9-5 | Hybrid, 2 remote days/week
About the Role:
Our client, a respected and long-established firm, is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Estate Advisor to join its Estate Settlement team. This role is focused on managing complex estate matters in a client-centric, collaborative environment.
In this position, you’ll get the opportunity to work closely with experienced advisors and attorneys, gaining direct exposure to all phases of estate administration, including tax return preparation, probate proceedings, and asset distribution. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file federal and state estate tax returns, including Massachusetts estate tax returns
- Estimate total estate value, assess debts, administrative costs, and tax obligations to determine cash needs
- Collect and manage assets; arrange payment of debts, expenses, and taxes
- Coordinate with attorneys on estate distribution plans and develop trust-funding strategies
- Work with the Estate Coordinator to draft and file probate forms, inventories, accountings, and related documents with probate courts
- Participate in estate tax audits at the state and federal level, collaborating with responsible attorneys
- Maintain communication with clients, beneficiaries, accountants, and financial advisors to provide updates and resolve questions
- Maintain thorough documentation and status tracking of all assigned estate files
- Participate in training sessions and professional development activities to stay current with estate law trends and best practices
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field is required
- 5+ years of estate settlement experience
- Proven experience with estate tax return preparation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client and advisor interaction
- High attention to detail with strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with estate software tools such as GEMS, CCH ProSystem FX, TrustEase, SEI/SWP, ZCalc, ViewPlan, or similar platforms is a plus
- Self-starter with ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
