Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
Full-Time Contract Position | On-Site | Patient-Facing
Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to provide high-quality, evidence-based patient care in an outpatient clinical setting. The ideal candidate has experience in primary care, urgent care, or emergency room environments and is comfortable performing clinical procedures, administering medications and vaccines, conducting patient assessments, and documenting care using electronic medical record systems.
This is a temporary contract position with the possibility of conversion to permanent employment. Conversion is not guaranteed.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer oral, injectable, intravenous, and topical medications within the scope of licensure and applicable protocols.
- Perform routine patient assessments and monitor vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, and temperature.
- Perform phlebotomy, administer vaccines, and conduct point-of-care testing.
- Monitor patient conditions, evaluate pain levels, and document treatment responses.
- Review medications and identify potential side effects or drug interactions for appropriate follow-up.
- Accurately document patient medical histories, illnesses, medications, allergies, surgeries, and family history in electronic health records.
- Conduct appropriate screenings, including depression and assessments of mood, behavior, and cognitive function, within the scope of practice.
- Educate patients on medication administration, self-care, disease management, and available healthcare resources.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to support patient care and continuity of services.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other members of the clinical team.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked clinic environment.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted LPN or LVN license in the applicable state.
- Minimum of one year of related healthcare experience.
- Previous experience in a primary care, urgent care, or emergency room setting.
- Experience with phlebotomy, vaccine administration, and point-of-care testing.
- Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems; Epic experience preferred.
- Verifiable high school diploma or GED.
- Current BLS certification that remains valid for at least 30 days beyond the anticipated start date.
- Ability to provide the required license and certification documentation.
Important Experience Requirement: Candidates whose experience is limited to long-term care, nursing homes, home health, long-term acute care (LTAC), or skilled nursing facilities will not be considered. Applicants must have relevant experience in primary care, urgent care, or emergency room settings.
Schedule and Training
- Full-time schedule based on clinic operating hours.
- Shifts typically range from 7–10 hours, depending on clinic needs.
- Typical workweek includes two or three weekdays and every other weekend.
- Availability to work some major holidays is required.
- Work schedules are created in six-week blocks following the initial three weeks of training and orientation.
- Candidates must be available to complete the initial training period without scheduling conflicts.
Specific shifts and hours will depend on clinic operating needs.
