Direct Counsel is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney with 1–3 years of experience to join a leading East Coast law firm and its sophisticated Litigation practice.

Boston, MA; Greenwich, CT; Hartford, CT; New Haven, CT; Stamford, CT; West Hartford, CT

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of commercial litigation experience and familiarity with state and federal courts in Connecticut and/or Massachusetts. Candidates should have experience handling complex commercial litigation matters and a demonstrated interest in intellectual property litigation.

Responsibilities

  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Attend court conferences and hearings.
  • Argue motions and assist with courtroom proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategy.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery.
  • Manage day-to-day case activities, deadlines, and litigation workstreams.
  • Participate in trial preparation and assist with matters through all stages of litigation.
  • Analyze complex legal and factual issues and develop effective litigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and litigation teams to develop creative and practical solutions for clients.
  • Communicate with clients and contribute to exceptional client service.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of commercial litigation experience.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in intellectual property litigation preferred.
  • Familiarity with state and federal courts in Connecticut and/or Massachusetts.
  • Experience with pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, depositions, hearings, and trial preparation.
  • Judicial clerkship experience is a plus.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and advocacy skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent technical, professional, and client service skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Proactive approach with strong attention to detail.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Connecticut or Massachusetts Bar required, or ability to become admitted. Dual admission is a plus.

Work Environment

The firm offers a hybrid work environment, with attorneys able to work remotely two days per week.
