Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Systems Administrator to support core infrastructure and end-user technology in Laconia, New Hampshire. This role oversees server environments, desktop systems, connected devices, and helpdesk support while helping the business translate operational needs into practical technical solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong troubleshooting ability, sound judgment, and a hands-on background managing both Windows and Linux-based environments.
Responsibilities:
• Partner with business teams to gather requirements, define technical scope, and outline workflows for infrastructure-related projects and system improvements.
• Plan and carry out testing for operating system, hardware, and software changes, documenting results to promote stable production releases.
• Execute system installations, updates, migrations, and production deployments across server and end-user computing environments.
• Create and maintain accurate technical documentation, including network diagrams, process flows, operating procedures, recovery steps, and user guidance materials.
• Investigate and resolve issues involving applications, hardware, servers, and network communications to minimize disruption to business operations.
• Provide instruction to end users on procedures and best practices needed to effectively operate assigned technology and equipment.
• Build, configure, upgrade, and repair personal computers and related systems to meet organizational standards and user needs.
• Contribute technical expertise to special projects and keep leadership informed through regular status updates and progress reporting.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to support systems during and outside standard business hours as needed.• At least 10 years of experience in systems administration or a closely related technology role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar discipline preferred; equivalent hands-on experience or relevant certifications will also be considered.
• Strong experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments, VMware platforms, Linux systems, and patch management processes.
• Proven ability to set up, troubleshoot, and maintain desktop computers, virtual machines, and physical servers.
• Demonstrated success managing technical work from initial planning through completion while balancing shifting priorities and deadlines.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with careful attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams, business stakeholders, and management.
• Working knowledge of network administration is helpful, and familiarity with the IBMi operating system is a plus.
