Fire Alarm Technician (Installation & Service)

About the Company:
A leading national provider of fire, security, and communication systems is seeking experienced Fire Alarm Technicians to join its growing team. The company specializes in the installation, service, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm and life safety systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities.
Position Overview:
We are looking for Fire Alarm Technicians with experience in installing, programming, servicing, and inspecting fire alarm systems. This role involves both new system installations and troubleshooting of existing systems to ensure compliance with NFPA standards and local codes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, program, service, inspect, and test fire alarm systems and related components.
- Troubleshoot and repair fire alarm panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, and wiring.
- Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Pull, terminate, and label cable per company and industry standards.
- Conduct system start-ups, acceptance testing, and verification in accordance with NFPA 72.
- Provide on-site technical support and clear documentation of all work performed.
- Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, and other trades to complete projects efficiently.
- Maintain compliance with safety procedures and use of PPE on all job sites.
- Participate in on-call rotations and manufacturer/NICET training programs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in commercial or industrial fire alarm installation or service (5+ preferred for senior techs).
- State Low Voltage or Electrical License (Class D, B, C, or A).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with major manufacturers (e.g., Notifier, Gamewell/FCI, Edwards, Siemens, Honeywell).
- Knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code).
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or lifts when required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- NICET Level I or II certification in Fire Alarm Systems.
- Experience with system programming, inspection testing, and code compliance reporting.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for documentation and reporting.
