    Job Details
  • Operate ultrasound imaging equipment to acquire images and communicate sonographer impressions to interpreting physicians.
  • Problem-solving skills and active participation in departmental initiatives required.
  • Effective communication with students, peers, patients, and physicians to ensure safety and quality of imaging.
  • Exercise independent judgment to modify scan techniques for optimal image quality.
  • Participate in call, holiday, and shift rotations as required by the department.
  • May rotate among main campus and community locations with appropriate training.
  • Perform patient and exam verification, ensuring correct patient identification and reviewing order and clinical history.
  • Prepare and clean equipment and room for each patient, maintaining stock levels.
  • Use clear communication when explaining exams to patients, considering physical and emotional needs.
  • Work collaboratively with leadership to ensure smooth patient flow and optimal utilization of ultrasound scanners.
  • Deliver patient care under scope of license/training.
  • Assume responsibilities for on-call and holiday coverage, remain flexible in shift coverage and overtime.
  • Perform all duties related to clinical ultrasound exams.
  • Oversee and instruct sonographers, professional staff, and students on equipment operation, protocols, and technical aspects.
  • Participate in research programs, quality assurance, and quality improvement projects.
  • Perform duties related to research ultrasound exams.
  • Perform support tasks as outlined by the department.
    Job Requirements
  • Must have professional license and/or certification as required for the position with primary source verification within 30 days of start date.
  • BLS certification required (AHA, Red Cross, CHSF or Military).
  • MGB Badge Photo required (color photo taken in past 6 months).
  • Fit Test (N95) within 365 days of start date and updated annually.
  • Respirator Medical Clearance Attestation required if fit test is required.
  • Documentation of MMR vaccination or proof of immunity required.
  • TB test documentation within 3 months of start date and updated if break >6 months.
  • Health Statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date and updated if >6 month break.
  • MGB Criminal Background Check within 45 days prior to start date and updated if >6 month break.
  • MGB Massachusetts CORI check within 30 days prior to start date and updated if >6 month break.
  • MGB Resume including past 7 years of work experience required for submission.
  • Two references within 4 years of submission, minimum one supervisor or above in skillset.
  • MGB Skills Checklist must be completed within 1 year of submission.
  • MGB Confirmation of Assignment/POI Form required for all initial assignments and extensions.
  • MGB Education Verification through background check company.
  • MGB SSN Trace must be run with criminal check.
  • MGB National Sex Offender Check within 30 days of start and updated annually.
  • MGB Exclusion Checks within 30 days of start and annually.
    Schedule Information
  • Shift: 07:30 - 16:00
  • Participate in call, holiday, and shift rotations as required by the department.
  • Remain flexible in all shift coverage and overtime situations as necessary.
    Additional Details
  • Must submit a color photo taken in past 6 months with plain background, no selfies or filters.
  • Fit Test must be completed on the MGB N95 Respirator Fit Test Record Form; no religious or medical exemptions allowed.
  • Updates to Fit Test can be done at Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket if traveler extends beyond original assignment due to limited resources.
  • Positive PPD requires documentation of a chest x-ray indicating no active tuberculosis.
  • TB Screening Form to determine no symptoms suggestive of TB infection must be completed prior to start and updated annually.
  • Name change documentation required if credential documentation does not match current legal name or profile.
