Job DescriptionPosition Overview
Our organization, in collaboration with a regional medical school, is on the lookout for a distinguished academic physician to take on the role of Assistant/Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education. This leadership position involves overseeing the implementation and enhancement of the regional VISTA curriculum, managing operations and accreditation for undergraduate medical education (UME), collaborating with campus and system leaders to provide an outstanding learning experience, and recruiting as well as supporting faculty members. Additionally, the role includes maintaining an active clinical practice at our facility.
The Opportunity

You will be responsible for the delivery, development, and ongoing quality enhancement of the UME portfolio, ensuring it aligns with the UMass Chan VISTA curriculum and meets LCME standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Leadership: Supervise the execution and evaluation of the regional campus curriculum, which includes Early Clinical Learning, Clerkships, and Leadership Tracks.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee UME academic and operational functions, including curriculum committees and accreditation processes (LCME/NECHE).
- Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with Student Affairs, Faculty Development, and leadership from the main campus to ensure a cohesive learner experience.
- Faculty Development: Recruit, mentor, and prepare faculty leaders for innovative curriculum implementation.
- Clinical Practice: Maintain an active clinical practice at our medical center, dedicating approximately 50% of your time to this role.
Qualifications
- Education: An MD or DO degree is required; a Master's in Education is highly preferred.
- Licensure: Must be board certified and eligible for or currently hold a Massachusetts medical license.
- Experience: A minimum of 4 years in leadership roles within LCME-accredited undergraduate medical education, curriculum design, and assessment, or equivalent experience in a COCA-accredited college of osteopathic medicine.
- Skills: Strong capabilities in data-driven process improvement, project management, and inter-professional communication.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is between $350,000.00 and $410,000.00 USD annually. This range reflects the organization's good faith estimate of what it expects to pay for this role at this time. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as education, training, relevant experience, specialty, geographical location, productivity, job responsibilities, and other legally permissible factors. Additionally, this position may qualify for performance-based incentives, which could include bonuses related to productivity and quality.
