Title: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Burlington, VT
Duration: 32 weeks
Shift: Night, 3x12-Hour (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Provide respiratory care in adult ICU, ED, and level III NICU settings; PICU experience preferred
  • Manage airway devices including direct intubation, extubation, intubation assist, nasal and oral airway placement and suctioning
  • Perform tracheostomy care and suctioning (ETT, NT), sputum specimen collection
  • Care for patients with conditions such as ARDS, aspiration, COVID, cystic fibrosis, fresh tracheostomy, pneumonia
  • Administer oxygen therapy and manage ventilators including high frequency jet and oscillator, BiPAP, CPAP, IMV, flow-by, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
  • Troubleshoot high pressure alarms on ventilators
  • Administer respiratory medications (Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Inhaled Flolan, Lidocaine, Mucomyst, Nitric Oxide, Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, Tobramycin, Xopenex) using various delivery systems (aerosol setup, Medihaler, MDI, nebulizers)
  • Perform arterial punctures and pulmonary function testing
  • Care for infants/children with RSV and transient tachypnea of the newborn
  • Work within a teaching hospital environment with trauma level I experience required
  • Charting experience with any system required; Epic experience within past 2 years is mandatory
  • Preferred: previous charge experience, PALS certification
  • Certifications required: RRT, BLS, ACLS, PALS (preferred), NRP (required upon submission)
  • Must be willing to work 2 out of 4 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Day)
  • Schedule flexibility with weekends as needed; no call required
  • Reliable personal transportation required (public transport not available)
  • Travel experience required; no first-time travelers accepted
