At The Kahm Center for Eating Disorders, we believe in compassionate, individualized care free from large-facility burnout.As a Mental Health Technician ($20–$28/hr), you’ll be an essential pillar of our therapeutic milieu—modeling healthy mealtime behaviors, guiding daily activities, and providing the crucial daily encouragement our patients need to heal.

The Kahm Center for Eating Disorders is a small family owned Vermont practice that treats eating disorders in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) setting. We are looking for mental health technicians who are passionate about treating eating disorders and fostering meaningful relationships with the staff and patients as a part of a multidisciplinary treatment team. Qualifications:

  • Experience in the field of mental health is preferred
  • Theoretic as well as practical knowledge of the clinical area
  • Demonstrates strong leadership qualities
  • Demonstrates sound judgment
  • Demonstrates and consistently strives to maintain excellence in all mental health technician job responsibilities
  • Bachelors degree required; in psychology or related field preferred

Essential Functions (Performed in accordance with Kahm Center policies under the supervision of the lead therapist):

  • Patient Support & Recovery: Provide compassionate, individualized support and intervention consistent with each patient’s treatment plan; assist therapists during periods of crisis; and help patients build healthy, supportive relationships throughout their recovery journey.
  • Meal Support & Patient Care: Supervise and meal coach patients daily, assist with food preparation, model appropriate mealtime behaviors and conversation, and collect patient vitals and biometrics according to the program schedule.
  • Groups & Milieu Management: Facilitate process and alternative groups for up to 4–12 patients, oversee the therapeutic milieu, maintain the daily group schedule, and foster a safe, positive, and supportive environment for patients and staff.
  • Team Collaboration & Administrative Support: Serve as an active member of the multidisciplinary treatment team, participate in treatment team rounds when scheduling allows, assist with administrative tasks as needed, and maintain a respectful, courteous, and compassionate approach with patients and coworkers.
