Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician oversees the performance, reliability, and upkeep of large production machinery in a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial equipment, while also supporting facility maintenance and collaborating with engineering and production teams on machinery modifications and new product integration.

Pay: $26 - $32/hr (depending on experience)

Shift: Frst (1st) shift: 6:00am - 4:00pm, Monday - Thursday, 6:00am - 12:00pm Fridays

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on large production machines to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Thoroughly clean machines and machine parts, including removing and reinstalling components as necessary to maintain proper operation.
  • Oil and lubricate moving parts on machinery to promote smooth and efficient performance.
  • Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts and communicate findings clearly to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Order and install replacement parts for machines, ensuring correct fit, function, and timely completion of repairs.
  • Identify the causes of unexpected machine breakdowns through effective troubleshooting of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and industrial systems.
  • Repair broken machines quickly and efficiently to restore production operations and reduce disruption.
  • Prepare clear and accurate reports documenting maintenance work performed, parts used, and recommendations for future service.
  • Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies to support a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines, balancing production needs with equipment reliability.
  • Collaborate with product management or plant engineering personnel regarding new products and the machinery modifications required to support them.
  • Make necessary modifications to equipment and perform test runs, implementing additional alterations to machinery as needed to meet production specifications.
  • Perform ongoing facility maintenance tasks in a manufacturing setting to support safe and continuous operations.
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned to support the maintenance and production teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial maintenance, including exposure to production machinery and facility systems.
  • Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical repair in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with industrial environments and processes, particularly those involving specialized materials such as leather products.
  • Some vocational or community college education with related coursework in maintenance, mechanics, or industrial technology, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain organized shop areas, manage parts inventory, and care for tools and supplies.
  • Comfort working in a family-oriented manufacturing environment with close-knit teams.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing facility with a strong family feel, producing leather products using large production machinery and industrial equipment. You work in a hands-on, shop-floor environment that involves regular interaction with machines, tools, and facility systems. The pace can be fast and occasionally stressful due to production demands, and you will spend much of your time on your feet performing mechanical tasks, inspections, and repairs in and around the plant and maintenance shop areas.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brockton, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
