LEAD ULTRASOUND TECHNOLOGIST – ANTENATAL TESTING UNIT

POSITION OVERVIEW
Boston Medical Center is seeking an experienced Lead Ultrasound Technologist to join our Antenatal Testing Unit (ATU) team. Under the general guidance of the Operations Manager, the Lead Technologist provides both administrative and technical leadership while coordinating the daily operations of the department.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced OB/GYN Ultrasound Technologist who is ready to take the next step in their career and play a key role in supporting high-quality care for patients with routine and high-risk pregnancies.
The Lead Ultrasound Technologist will work closely with sonographers, physicians, Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialists, nurses, administration, and other departments to ensure efficient daily operations and the delivery of exceptional patient care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Antenatal Testing Unit.
- Provide technical and administrative leadership to ultrasound staff.
- Coordinate department workflow to ensure timely and efficient patient care.
- Perform high-quality Level II OB/GYN ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols.
- Collaborate with Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
- Ensure ultrasound services are delivered in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
- Support staff training, development, and performance.
- Assist with troubleshooting clinical, technical, and operational issues.
- Monitor quality and help maintain high standards of diagnostic imaging.
- Promote patient safety, excellent customer service, and a positive patient experience.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, technologists, administration, and other departments.
- Help identify opportunities to improve department processes, workflow, quality, and efficiency.
- Serve as a knowledgeable clinical resource for ultrasound staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Associate's degree or completion of a two-year patient-based allied health program.
- Ultrasound, Medical Sonography, or Radiology preferred.
- Armed Forces equivalent medic/corpsman program may be considered with required DD-214 documentation.
Certification:
- RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) certification required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of Level II OB/GYN ultrasound experience required.
- Previous supervisory, lead, or team leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in a high-risk obstetric or Maternal-Fetal Medicine environment is highly valued.
