Medical Device Field Service Technician Job Summary
A-Line Staffing is seeking a Medical Device Field Service Technician to support automated medication dispensing and supply management systems used in hospitals, nursing homes, and healthcare facilities. This is a remote, road-warrior role with daily local travel and minimal overnight stays. The position requires strong customer-facing skills, technical troubleshooting expertise, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
Medical Device Field Service Technician Essential Functions
- Provide remote and on-site reactive service for automated dispensing systems, supporting both hardware and software components
- Perform installations, upgrades, and preventive maintenance on healthcare automation equipment
- Respond to, evaluate, and prioritize service orders related to hardware, software, networking, and customer service issues
- Diagnose system issues through customer interviews and guided troubleshooting
- Maintain full ownership of service orders, ensuring proper escalation when needed
- Document all service activity accurately in CRM systems
- Coordinate with advanced technical teams to resolve complex issues
- Manage and track parts in accordance with established procedures
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and healthcare facility staff to ensure high customer satisfaction
Medical Device Field Service Technician Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Home-based with daily travel to customer sites
- Physically demanding role requiring pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and lifting
- Must be able to lift 70–90 lbs repeatedly
- Professional demeanor required in hospital and clinical settings
Medical Device Field Service Technician Qualifications
- Prior 24x7 field-based customer service experience required
- Minimum 2 years of PC and networking experience
- Experience supporting electromechanical or automation equipment strongly preferred
- Healthcare environment experience a plus
- Associate’s degree in Technology or Healthcare preferred (or equivalent experience)
- A+ certification preferred
- Military technical experience a plus
- Strong customer service, troubleshooting, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and basic software tools
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet auto safety standards
- Flexibility to support a 24x7 service environment
