40hrs Monday through Friday 6:30-1700\nWeekend call rotational, about every 4th weekend, for 48hrs over Saturday and Sunday\nWeekday call overnight once a week, rotational.\nHolidays call is rotational\n\nJob Summary\nReporting to the Clinical Nurse Manager of the Endoscopy Unit, provides care for diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterological equipment. Responsible for the quality and effectiveness of the Endoscopy Unit equipment. Provides technical assistance during procedures under direction of the physician.\n\nJob Functions\nGathers appropriate instrumentation, supplies and equipment for procedure per gastroenterologist preferences.\nSets-up cases in procedure rooms per schedule.\nPossesses knowledge of procedure and anticipates the gastroenterologists needs throughout the procedure.\nPrepares specimens correctly and accurately.\nConducts breakdown of cases post-procedure and manually cleans scope per policy.\nPrepares contaminated instrumentation for decontamination process by properly transferring and cleansing them, per Endoscopy policy, at the end of each procedure.\nConducts terminal end sterilization/high level disinfection of endoscopic equipment per policy.\nPerforms quality assurance testing of scope washers per policy.\nMaintains scope washers quality assurance log per policy.\nTroubleshoots scope washer equipment.\nTroubleshoots endoscopic equipment including endoscopes.\nAssists in the turnover of the procedure room to include washing of beds, overhead lights and removal of linen and trash.\nProvides cleaning and restocking Endoscopy Unit procedure rooms.\nPerforms basic procedural cart set-up at end of day.\nAssists with transport of equipment and set-up of cases performed outside of the Endoscopy Unit.\nMaintains and orders general inventory stock, restocks rooms and supply closets.\nCollaborates with other health care professionals.\nProvides Charge Nurse with data such as malfunctioning of equipment, scope repair needs, and material management needs that affect the daily running of the Endoscopy schedule.\nAttends appropriate in-service and continuing education programs commensurate with the job responsibilities.\nParticipates in regular on call rotation within the Endoscopy Unit, as certified in BLS provider.\nParticipates in unit/hospital projects that seek to improve patient care.\nActs as a resource for others regarding equipment.\nMaintains and supports patients rights to care, privacy and respect.\nOther duties as assigned from time to time\n\nEducation:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.\nGraduate of an accredited surgical technology program strongly preferred.\nSterile processing training course strongly preferred.\n\nBLS required\nCertificate of completion from accredited surgical technology program preferred.\n(IAHCSMM) or (CBSPD) and SGNA preferred
