Seacoast Mental Health Center is seeking an Emergency Services Clinician to join our team. Master's Degree in clinically related mental health discipline with experience in clinical diagnosis and therapeutic intervention required. Ability to form rapid rapport and interact with broad range of clients, including severe and chronic populations. Ability to interface with various community agencies/organizations and multidisciplinary staff. CPR and First Aid Training are recommended.

Responsibilities:

1. To provide individuals/families in need with 24-hour crisis intervention and stabilization, to prevent or reduce potential suicide, serious debilitation, violent behavior and decrease the need for long-term hospitalization.

2. Work in close collaboration and cooperation with other ES members and other multidisciplinary agency staff, in carrying out team and agency policies/procedures.

3. Providing phone/face-to-face "walk-in" crisis intervention and stabilization services during normal agency (daytime) hours.

4. Participation in 24-hour (after hours) phone and face-to-face crisis services at The Exeter Hospital.

5. Assessing client crisis state/immediate needs; level of urgency and selecting mode of intervention in relation to suicide risk, violence potential, current level of coping, mental status, support system, need for medication, crisis housing, brief hospitalization, IEA or referral for outpatient treatment.

6. Formulate and initiate plan of action independently and/or in consultation with the client, psychiatrist, case manager, various other staff as appropriate to situation.

7. Assume case management and psychotherapy functions when performing crisis stabilization with emphasis on returning patients to their previous baseline by facilitating connections to services within agency or community.

8. Consultation and/or evaluation with Exeter Hospital Emergency Room physicians and staff, for persons presenting in the ER with psychiatric problems. When requested, telephone consultations with Portsmouth Regional Hospital Emergency Room for Seacoast clients who present there in crisis and/or who require a Conditional Discharge Revocation. At times, consulting and evaluating those who present in other parts of the Exeter Hospital other than the emergency department and medical floors may occur.

9. When ordered by agency psychiatrist or APRN, completion of Conditional Discharge Revocation at either Exeter Hospital or Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

10. Provide emergency consultations/information and evaluation to various other community agencies and organizations, such as police, jail, foster home, etc, and homeless shelters in the area when appropriate.
