Job DescriptionPosition Overview

Our organization is in search of a dynamic and accomplished physician leader to take on the role of Vice Chair of Radiation Oncology. This individual will work closely with the Department Chair to provide strategic, clinical, academic, and operational guidance throughout the department. The Vice Chair will be instrumental in enhancing patient care, education, innovation, and research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Chair to formulate and implement the department's strategic vision while supporting its core missions.
  • Oversee clinical operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe patient care and efficient workflows.
  • Lead growth initiatives, including the development of new programs and the expansion of service lines.
  • Support the recruitment, retention, mentorship, and performance management of faculty members.
  • Encourage and expand clinical research and academic productivity.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, accreditation, and quality standards.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, equity, and continuous improvement.
  • Work with the Chair and administrative team on financial and budget planning for the department.
  • Enhance the radiation oncology model to improve efficiency and consistency across multiple care sites, including both AMC and community settings.
  • Develop a system-wide radiation oncology model to utilize personnel and expertise across various locations.
  • Conduct quality assurance activities and create quality improvement programs that align with departmental and institutional objectives.
  • Represent the department in institutional leadership and external partnerships.
  • Facilitate business development through outreach and growth initiatives.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree with board certification in Radiation Oncology.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Massachusetts.
  • Academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor (or eligibility for such rank).
  • Proven leadership experience (e.g., medical director, program director).
  • Strong history of clinical excellence, education, and/or research.
  • Experience in managing teams and complex healthcare operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with multi-site or network-based oncology programs.
  • Demonstrated success in clinical program growth or innovation.
  • Advanced training in leadership, administration, or business is preferred.

The salary range for this position is $517,000.00 - $585,000.00 annually. Actual compensation will be determined during the selection process and will take into account various factors, including relevant experience, education, internal equity, and academic rank.
